（3）to be led by the nose。To be led by the nose是一种很不愉快的经历。它的意思就是一个人全部在别人的控制之下，就像一头牲口被人用绳子牵着鼻子走一样。那末to be led by the nose在一般情况下的用法是怎么样的呢？

Ed's wife is a strong-minded woman and leads him around by the nose. 这句话的意思是："埃德的太太是一个个性很强的人，埃德简直就是被她牵着鼻子走。

（4）take the point。Take the point也可以说成walk the point。这个短语本来是军事用语，意思是“担任前哨或尖兵”。每当巡逻队出动执行任务的时候，总会有一名士兵远远走在前面。这名士兵就是在take the point或者walk the point。

不管是谁担任前哨或尖兵，这个人都得有勇气和胆量，如果前面有埋伏的敌人，子弹肯定会首先射向他。但是这样就等于是给后面的战友发出了警报，让他们知道前面有敌军埋伏。

take the point作为习惯用语被政界和商界借用，引申为“敢于一马当先为众人出面”。
